About the Album
Released in 1977, Scorpions' Taken by Force captures the German band's transition toward the sharper, more internationally recognized hard-rock sound of its later work. The album features Michael Schenker's final studio appearance with the group before his departure, adding a distinctive lead-guitar presence to the band's melodic heavy rock. “Steamrock Fever” and “He's a Woman—She's a Man” showcase the record's combination of driving riffs, high-energy vocals, and carefully arranged guitar lines, while “The Sails of Charon” stands out for its unusual atmosphere and Uli Jon Roth's expressive playing. The album balances forceful rock with melodic and sometimes experimental passages, making it an important release in the Scorpions' 1970s catalog.
