About the Album
Jethro Tull's War Child, released in 1974, combines the band's progressive-rock arrangements with concise songs, theatrical touches, and Ian Anderson's distinctive flute and vocal style. The album moves between energetic rock tracks and more playful or reflective material, with Martin Barre's guitar and the band's shifting rhythms adding texture. The title was originally connected to a proposed film project, and the music retains a cinematic quality in its changes of mood and character. Rather than relying on a single long suite, War Child presents a varied collection that demonstrates Jethro Tull's ability to mix folk influences, hard rock, and progressive experimentation.
