About the Album
Live at Last is a live album by Black Sabbath drawn from performances recorded in 1973 and released in 1980. It captures the original lineup of Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward during the period when the band's heavy, riff-driven sound was taking shape on stage. The set includes early versions of songs such as “Tomorrow's Dream,” “War Pigs,” “Paranoid,” and “Wicked World,” showing the band's ability to extend its studio material into raw, forceful performances. Iommi's dark guitar riffs, Butler's weighty bass lines, Ward's dynamic drumming, and Osbourne's distinctive vocals create the atmosphere that helped define early heavy metal. The release has an unusual history, having originally appeared without the band's approval, which makes it a distinctive document of Sabbath's early live sound.
