About the Album
Yes's Relayer, released in 1974, is one of the band's most adventurous progressive-rock albums. The record is built around three extended compositions, with the side-long “The Gates of Delirium” moving through complex instrumental sections, shifting rhythms, and a dramatic closing passage. Patrick Moraz's keyboards bring a different tonal palette to the group, while Steve Howe's guitar, Chris Squire's bass, Alan White's drums, and Jon Anderson's vocals create the band's characteristic interplay. “Sound Chaser” emphasizes fast, intricate musicianship, and “To Be Over” offers a more reflective ending. Relayer captures Yes at a point of experimentation, combining technical ambition with contrasting moods and textures.
