About the Album

Deep Purple's The House of Blue Light (1987) reunites the classic Mark II lineup of Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice. The album combines hard-rock riffs with prominent keyboards and a polished 1980s production style. “Call of the Wild” and “Bad Attitude” showcase the band's forceful rhythm section and guitar-keyboard interplay, while “Mitzi Dupree” takes a more blues-oriented approach. The record follows Perfect Strangers and reflects the challenge of bringing the group's contrasting musical personalities together in a contemporary studio setting. It is an important late-period entry in Deep Purple's classic lineup catalog.
