About the Album
Released in 1965, Help! finds the Beatles expanding beyond their early beat-group sound while retaining the concise melodies and vocal harmonies that made them international stars. The title song has an urgent, driving feel, while “Ticket to Ride” combines a distinctive rhythm with a more introspective mood. “Yesterday,” built around Paul McCartney's voice and acoustic guitar with a string arrangement, shows the group's growing interest in varied musical forms. The album also includes songs written for the film of the same name, reflecting the band's transition from energetic pop toward more personal songwriting. Help! is an essential snapshot of the Beatles at a turning point, with catchy rock and pop alongside signs of the experimentation that would soon reshape their music.
