Album Overview
Van Morrison's Common One, released in 1980, is one of his most expansive and meditative albums. Rather than relying on conventional pop structures, it unfolds through long performances that blend jazz, soul, folk, and spiritual influences, with rich arrangements and Morrison's expressive vocal phrasing at the center. “Summertime in England” is the album's centerpiece, moving through shifting musical passages and lyrical reflections, while the surrounding tracks maintain a contemplative mood. The record rewards patient listening and is often appreciated by fans for its ambition and atmosphere. This Japanese promotional LP is a distinctive collectible from Morrison's catalog.
