About the Album
Live in Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra documents Elton John performing with a full orchestra during his 1986 Australian tour, with the concert released in 1987. The performances combine familiar songs from across his career with orchestral arrangements that broaden the scale and color of the music. Elton John's piano and voice remain central, while the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra adds sweeping strings, brass, and dramatic dynamics. The set includes material from his early-1970s breakthrough as well as later hits, giving the concert a retrospective quality. This Japanese double-LP edition captures an unusual live project in which a rock concert is presented on a symphonic scale, emphasizing both the melodies and the theatricality of John's songwriting.
