About the Album
Night Ranger's Man in Motion, released in 1988, is the band's fifth studio album and features a guitar-oriented hard-rock sound shaped by producer Keith Olsen. The record arrived during a period when the band's early arena-rock style was becoming more polished and melodic, with strong choruses and detailed guitar arrangements. The title track and songs such as “Reason to Be” and “Restless Kind” showcase the group's blend of melodic hooks, twin-guitar interplay, and clear vocal harmonies. Jack Blades's vocals and bass, Brad Gillis and Jeff Watson's guitar work, and Kelly Keagy's drums form the core of the band's sound. Man in Motion represents the closing chapter of Night Ranger's initial 1980s run before the group entered a period of reduced activity.
