About the Album
Bacco – Cha Cha Me, released in 1979, is a Japanese fusion album associated with guitarist Masayoshi Takanaka's Bacco project. The music blends jazz fusion, funk, disco, and Latin-tinged rhythms, with Takanaka's clean, melodic guitar work set against tight grooves, keyboards, and percussion. Tracks such as “Cha Cha Me,” “Tokyo Lady,” and “Just Another Boy in the Band” show the album's mix of danceable rhythm and instrumental detail. The arrangements have a polished late-1970s sound, balancing rhythmic precision with bright melodic lines and extended instrumental interplay. This release is a distinctive entry in Takanaka's wider musical world and an appealing example of Japanese fusion from the period.
