About the Album
Kiss's Alive II, released in 1977, documents the band during the height of its original arena-rock success. The live set features the group's larger-than-life performance style, with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss delivering hard-rock songs with big choruses, theatrical presentation, and a strong connection to the audience. The album includes live versions of material from the band's mid-1970s catalog, along with studio recordings on its fourth side in the original release. “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout It Out Loud,” and “Beth” show the range from high-energy rock to more melodic material. As a follow-up to the breakthrough Alive!, the album captures Kiss expanding its sound and spectacle for a larger audience.
