About the Album
Great White's Shot in the Dark, released in 1986, blends blues-based hard rock with the polished production and melodic choruses associated with the mid-1980s. Jack Russell's raspy vocals and Mark Kendall's guitar work give the band a blues-rock edge, while the arrangements balance riff-driven songs with more melodic material. The album helped establish the group's sound before the greater commercial success of Once Bitten. Its combination of classic-rock influences, guitar solos, and arena-ready hooks makes it a representative release from Great White's early period.
