Album Overview
The Cars' Shake It Up, released in 1981, refines the band's signature mix of new wave, pop, and guitar-driven rock. Ric Ocasek's sharp songwriting pairs with Greg Hawkes's synthesizers and the band's cool, tightly controlled arrangements, creating a sound that is both catchy and slightly offbeat. The title track became a major hit, while songs such as “Since You're Gone” and “A Dream Away” show the band's balance of punchy pop hooks and atmospheric textures. The album captures The Cars at the height of their early-1980s success. This Japanese LP edition is a strong addition for fans of classic new wave and power pop.
